OUR FEATURED PET
LIGHT HEARTED and playful is TINKERBELL, a 12 pound, white with cream American Eskimo mix. She was born approximately on July 4, 2005. She is a sweet, happy, bright little girl. She just loves to play with stuffed toys! She will do best in a home that she is the only dog as she will be so loyal to her owner. However, she may get along with cats. She loves people and she is housebroken. Tinkerbell had leg surgery, but she has healed 100%. This dog cannot be adopted out of state. Every potential adopter is required to fill out an adoption application and the dog is placed in the home that would be most suitable for the dog. Generally we don't release the dogs at the adoption site that day except on occasion to former adopters. Who We Are
The FCIA is a small, nonprofit (501C3), all volunteer organization that takes in small "adoptable" dogs that would otherwise be euthanized. Normally, they are under 20 lbs. Often they have medical problems, most of which can be reversed by our veterinarians. Our adoption fees range from $100 to $250, which covers spay or neutering, vaccines, worming, and some part of any medical expenses; not all are licensed and some are microchipped. We do not have a shelter and the dogs are in foster homes; they are shown every Saturday from 10:30-1:30 at different pet store locations in San Diego.

Come Visit Us!
As we don't have a shelter - we will be posting where we will be showing the dogs from week to week. Please note that adoptions require applications be processed and approved by the board and the dogs are not available the same day the application is submitted.

For all of you out there who have adopted from us - THANK YOU! We know it is not easy going through our adoption process and appreciate you sticking with us.
With Your Help
With the donations we have received, in 2007 we were able to:
1. Finance over 58 orthopedic surgeries, our busiest year ever, spending $27,573 over 12 months. Even with a hefty discount, this is a heavy burden.
2. Donated $2,350 to move a donated X-ray machine to the Chula Vista Animal Control, where the manager is a veterinarian committed to saving as many animals as she possible can.
3. Purchase isoflurane anesthesia to neuter puppies and kittens at shelters (more than 4,000 last nine years).
4. Provide surgeries for 134 rescued dogs, and another 45 at the shelters. During the last seven years, our assistance provided surgeries for nearly 879 rescued and shelter animals, allowing them to be adopted into loving homes instead of being euthanized.
5. Financially aid 23 families claim their impounded dogs from the shelter (123 previous six years). Animal Control offers an excellent low impound fee contingent on neutering.
6. Assist six local dog rescue groups with 35 surgeries for their animals.
7. Over the last seven years, assisted 2,318 needy people with their pets' medical needs. Tragic is the fact that the number of sick and injured pets is enormous, and we cannot afford to help everyone who calls us.
Adopting a Friend
They come with a lifetime guarantee, if at any time, for any reason, an adoption does not work out, you have signed a contract requiring you to return the dog to the Foundation. Under no circumstances should the adopted dog be placed with a friend, relative, co-worker, humane society, animal control/pound or any other individual or organization, we appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Our goal however, is to find loving, lifetime homes.
Volunteering and Donations
As our world becomes more violent and less humane, OUR JOB GETS TOUGHER AND MORE COSTLY. It takes longer these days to find adoptive parents who are willing to work with a neglected or abused dog, and who are willing to COMMIT FOR THE DOGS LIFE. WHAT A REWARD WHEN WE FIND THESE PEOPLE!!!
We always can use VOLUNTEERS and donations! We will be bringing donated items to the Saturday adoption sites to sell. Donations and adoption fees are used to get dogs from the shelters, pay for vet bills and medications. Foster homes are needed to give a dog hope of a better future. If you would like to become a foster home, you will be asked to care for a dog, taking it to the adoption center each weekend. We ask that you commit to fostering the anmial until the pet has been adopted to prevent the dog from being passed around.
